Cooking Dumplings
Your Mei Mei dumplings are already fully steamed. They keep well in the fridge for 5-7 days and even longer in the freezer!
Method 1: Pan Searing (Recommended)
Add 1 tablespoon of neutral cooking oil to a pan over medium heat. You want the oil to coat the bottom of the pan without any pooling. Heat until the oil is shimmering but not smoking.
Place your dumplings in the pan.
While shielding yourself with the pan lid, quickly add 2-3 tablespoons of water (or more for large pans) and immediately cover the pan with the lid – it will steam and sizzle.
Cover the pan so the steam cooks the top of the dumplings and let simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Check periodically to see if there is still water in the pan.
Uncover the dumplings and let the rest of the water evaporate and the bottoms crisp to a light golden brown (1-2 minutes).
Serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy!
Method 2: Microwaving
Transfer your desired number of dumplings to a shallow bowl or microwave-safe dish.
Add 1-2 TBS of water. Cover with a damp paper towel and microwave for 3-4 minutes.
